As a seafood fanatic, I love cooking shrimp, whether it’s fresh or frozen. They are delicious, healthy, and so easy to cook, they are perfect to have in your fridge or freezer for a quick meal. This spicy honey garlic shrimp is a favorite at my house, we eat it over rice or with udon!

All you need for this recipe are these 3 main ingredients: soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, and honey. Of course you can enhance the recipe by adding lemon juice, cilantro, green onion, or jalapeño, but all you need are these three key ingredients and that’s it!

Ingredients:

Serving Size: 2-3

  • Shrimp - 1 lb., about 30 medium or 20 large shrimps, can be unpeeled but peeled is preferable

  • Soy sauce - ⅕ cup

  • Chili garlic sauce - 4 tbsp

  • Honey -3 tbsp

  • Butter or extra olive oil - 2 tbs

If you’d like to make it a little more flavorful, add:

  • Minced garlic - 2 tbs

  • Jalapeño - 1, sliced

  • Lemon juice - 1 whole, squeezed

  • Cilantro - ½ cup chopped

  • Udon noodles or pasta noodles if you want to make a noodle shrimp dish!

Let’s get started!

1. In a medium bowl, put your shrimp, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, honey, and mix. If you have minced garlic or jalapeno, mix them in as well. Let it sit for about 10-15 min.

2. Heat a large skillet or a frying pan over high heat. Add butter and once the pan heats up, add the shrimp to the pan using a slotted spoon, and sear for about 1 min each side or until golden.

3. Squeeze lemon on the shrimp and stir. Let everything cook for about 20 seconds.

4. Remove shrimp from the pan to a serving platter. I like to scrape the thick leftover sauce left on the pan with a shrimp so it lightly coats the shrimp and leaves the pan somewhat clean. Now get your bowl of steamed rice and enjoy!

Tip: You can also put rice/udon on the pan with the leftover sauce and make fried rice/udon!
